Name of Organisation: Arts in Health Care Trust.

Description of Activities: Each year the Trust organises almost 200 performances in Jersey hospitals, day care centres and residential homes by musicians specially chosen for their skills in communication.

Our concerts improve the quality of life of adults and children affected by all kinds of illness, life limiting conditions, mental health problems, physical and learning disabilities as well as creating happy memories for families and health care staff .The sensitive approach of the musicians we provide helps to break down social and cultural barriers and the routine of long term care. The musicians do not provide miracle cures but magical moments of warmth and joy.

In addition the Trust organises exhibitions of local art in hospitals, commissions artists in residence, supports social activities in care settings, helps to promote arts therapies and publicly promotes the benefits of the arts in health care.

Volunteer Position: Honorary Chairman.

Brief description of duties: Chair Board and Liaison Group meetings (7/8 per year); Undertake funding applications in conjunction with the Honorary Treasurer; Programme concert tours in partnership with UK Charity - Music in Hospitals; Oversee completion and publication of Annual Report; Help to promote the work of the Trust in the local media.
