JSAD 50@50 Grant Report

JSAD have experienced a considerable downturn in income as a result of the pandemic. This has resulted in all areas of our operation having to use what reserves they have to fund fixed costs for the hire of storage space, facility hire that is not on a pay as you go basis, the safe restart of services post COVID lockdowns and the general additional costs of maintaining a safe environment for operation as we begin to live with COVID-19.

We’ve used our grant to support wheelchair basketball, DIPS (swimming), Golf, Gym Club, Football and the Gateway Club which provides multiple sports opportunities and need some safety equipment.

JSAD has allocated its grant of £10,000 from the Association of Jersey Charities 50@50 grant scheme in such a way that all groups that have reported loss get at least some of the costs reimbursed, thus allowing them to restart their services. Funds have also been allocated to enable new projects to be launched as well as expanding capacity in some of our areas.

Against all the odds, JSAD were able to stage our 2021 Awards event, thanks in no small part to the 50@50 grant. It was the first time that a large group of our members had seen each other in close to 18 months and it was such a happy occasion that lifted the spirits of all who attended. We plan to hold our 2022 Awards event towards the end of the year and again, we plan to use a small amount of the AJC grant to offset some of the costs of staging the event.
Pictures are of some of our members in action.
