Family Nursing & Home Care’s annual Colour Festival is a simple 5k charity fun run (or walk) for the whole community, all ages, all abilities. The proposed event date is Sat 18 May 2024 in the morning at low tide (approx. 09:30) on the beach in St Helier (West Park end) – all subject to Bailiff Panel and Parish permits. Participants pass through 5 paint stations on the beach being showered with a rainbow of coloured ‘paint’ (a form of corn starch which is approved for our marine environment). Rather than medals, there is a “Paint the Sky” vibrant celebration for the finishers. The race is a flat circuit on sand, wheelchair accessible; those who wish to can simply do 1k and then spectate and cheer others on. All money from the Colour Festival funds our Paediatric Palliative Care Worker (PPCW). This role, which provides respite for families with life limiting and life threatening illnesses, allows children to achieve their goals and have the same experiences as others whenever possible. We embrace the emotional, physical and social aspects of the life of a child with additional needs and do our absolute best to enhance and maximise the quality of life for both the child and their family. By taking part in the Colour Festival, participants enabled the terrific work that FNHC does to support Jersey families through respite and hospital visits, providing continuous charitable and emotional support.
