Jersey Legacy Week

The Association of Jersey Charities has launched ‘Jersey Legacy Week’ 2012. Legacy Week is being celebrated by charities worldwide and the National and International press will be highlighting this during the week of 17th to 23rd September. Jersey Legacy Week begins on 24th September.

Legacies can be difficult to discuss openly, however, we want to find a way for everyone to be able to discuss legacies in the open. We feel the best way to do this is to join forces and make a splash about the importance of legacies to charities in Jersey as a whole.

Our Member charities will be handing out Tea bags, kindly supplied by Coopers, together with a brochure 'Why Make a Will', to all stakeholders during this week, asking people to sit and chat with their family about leaving a gift to charity in their will. Look out for your volunteers handing out the same in town the week commening 24th September.

A legacy doesn’t have to be a large amount, so once all family and friends have been taken care of, a little to a favourite charity may be appropriate.

A series of talks has also been arranged, hosted by various law firms and dates/times of these will be advised nearer the time.

For information on how to make a will, visit the Citizen’s Advice Bureau or call in to talk to an advisor.
