Prisoners of Conscience Jersey Holiday Fund (PoCHFJ) Membership Number: AJC194 / Registered Charity Number: 245 PoCHFJ provides all expenses paid respite holidays in Jersey for individuals (and their families) who have been recognised as former prisoners of conscience - and/or who have been subjected to torture - as certified by our partner agencies:
- Human Rights Protection Fund UK
- York University Centre for Applied Human Rights
- Freedom from Torture UK
- Wycombe Refugee Partnership
Our guests are all bona fide torture survivors and former prisoners of conscience, who are now living as refugees in the UK. Most are highly educated former professionals, surviving in meagre and often harsh circumstances, while rebuilding their lives from scratch. They all benefit enormously from the short ‘respite & recuperation’ breaks we offer in our beautiful island.
It is a privilege and a delight to meet all our beneficiaries, who have suffered so much - and involvement in our work is hugely rewarding.
