The Honorary Secretary plays a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient functioning of the JSPCA Committee. The position supports strong governance practice by maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with constitutional requirements, and facilitating clear communication across the organisation.

Working closely with the President, Committee Officers, Committee Members and the CEO, the Honorary Secretary helps ensure the JSPCA meets its governance obligations and supports the delivery of its mission, vision and strategic objectives. The role also contributes to maintaining positive relationships between the Committee, stakeholders and the wider community, helping to promote a professional and credible profile for the charity.
 

The Honorary Veterinary Surgeon provides the Committee and wider organisation with expert professional veterinary advice to support the ethical, safe and effective delivery of the JSPCA’s charitable purpose. The role ensures that veterinary considerations, standards and responsibilities are understood, upheld and embedded within organisational decision-making.

The scope of advice provided will depend on the individual’s Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) registration status. Veterinary Surgeons on the non-practising register may not provide advice on diagnosis or treatment; however, they may still offer guidance on ethical, procedural and professional matters.
 

The Committee Member – Fundraising & Income Generation provides strategic leadership and expert guidance across all areas of fundraising, business development and income generation for the JSPCA. This role ensures that the charity develops sustainable, diverse and ethical income streams that support its long-term financial stability, animal welfare services and community impact.

The Committee Member acts as the Committee’s specialist adviser on fundraising strategy, donor stewardship, diversification opportunities and innovation in income generation.
 

The Committee Member – People & Culture provides strategic leadership and specialist insight into all areas of people, culture, organisational development and workforce wellbeing at the JSPCA. This role supports the Committee and CEO in ensuring the organisation attracts, develops and retains the right people; fosters a positive culture; upholds best practice in people management; and reflects the JSPCA’s mission and values through its working environment.

The Committee Member brings expertise in HR, leadership, workforce strategy and organisational culture, ensuring that the JSPCA is a supportive, effective and values led charity.
 

The Committee Member – Digital & Technology provides strategic leadership, insight and oversight across all areas of technology within the JSPCA. This role ensures that the organisation leverages digital systems, data, and modern tools effectively to support operational efficiency, animal welfare services, fundraising, governance and stakeholder engagement.
 

The Committee Member acts as the Committee’s expert adviser in digital transformation, cyber security and technology-driven innovation, supporting long-term strategy and effective implementation through appropriate governance and oversight.
