Jersey Trees for LIfe
Jersey Trees for Life have an opening for a committee member.
A Committee Member supports the charity’s governance and strategic direction by contributing to discussions, helping to make informed decisions, and working collaboratively with fellow committee members, the Chair and the CEO to further the charity’s objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities
Attend committee meetings and contribute constructively to discussions and decision-making.
Support the Chair, CEO and fellow committee members in overseeing the charity’s work and ensuring decisions are properly considered.
Act in the best interests of the charity and help ensure its activities remain aligned with its charitable purposes.
Provide support, advice and challenge where appropriate, drawing on personal experience, knowledge and skills.
Help promote good governance by reading papers in advance, asking questions, and supporting agreed actions.
Contribute to policy development, planning and other committee activities as needed.
Act as an ambassador for the charity, helping to support its reputation and strengthen relationships with members, volunteers, partners and the wider community.
Support the charity at fundraising and other public events.
Experience & Skills Required
A keen willingness to learn is essential.
Strong attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
The ability to manage and meet deadlines.
Previous committee, charity, governance or community experience is helpful but not essential.
Good communication skills, with a readiness to share information and provide updates.
Basic IT skills for communication and record-keeping.
Time Commitment
Six 2-hour meetings a year and the AGM in July
