TAAS The Appropriate Adult Service is Recruiting
Role Type: Paid (voluntary roles are also available)
Location: Covering custody suites in Jersey
Hours: Zero hours – Manage your own availability using our online rota system
Key Responsibilities
• Attend police interviews to support detained young or vulnerable individuals
• Ensure they understand proceedings, their rights, and provide emotional support
• Observe and challenge any improper or unfair conduct
• Assist with communication between detainee and police
• Record and report relevant details of the visit using our online referral form
Essential Criteria
• Reside in Jersey (within ~1hr of custody suite)
• Reliable, punctual, professional, sensitive to vulnerable people

• Strong communication skills, including telephone
• Basic IT skills (email, web forms, rota systems)

• Commitment to confidentiality, impartiality, and safeguarding
Desirable Attributes
• Experience working with children or vulnerable adults (paid or voluntary)
• Familiarity with PPACE Code C and safeguarding legislation
• Driving licence and access to a vehicle
